In modern lighting applications, luminaire designs are becoming increasingly compact, leaving less room inside fixtures for dimmable LED drivers. For linear luminaires, compact lighting fixtures, and lighting products using compact junction boxes, the dimensions of traditional LED drivers may no longer meet installation requirements. This presents a new challenge for lighting contractors when selecting drivers: How can they choose the right dimmable LED driver for space-constrained applications?
To address this challenge, Suretron has launched its new Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Dimmable LED Driver Series. Featuring compact and ultra-slim designs, multiple dimming options, and a variety of housing configurations, the series helps luminaire manufacturers and lighting contractors select suitable LED dimmable drivers based on different installation conditions and dimming requirements.
Ultra-Mini and Ultra-Slim Designs: Accommodating Different Installation Spaces
Suretron offers two product designs, Ultra-Mini and Ultra-Slim, to meet the compact installation requirements of different applications.
The Ultra-Slim dimmable LED driver features an ultra-thin profile of just 15mm while delivering up to 100W of output power, making it suitable for luminaires with limited installation height.
For applications requiring an even more compact driver footprint, selected 30W–96W Ultra-Mini models are designed to fit 2-gang boxes, providing additional options for space-constrained installations.
Outstanding Performance
In practical lighting applications, conversion efficiency, power factor, dimming performance, and protection functions all contribute to the overall performance of a dimmable LED driver.
Built around compact designs, the Suretron Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Dimmable LED Driver Series also delivers on several key performance indicators:
Conversion Efficiency Up to 94%: Helps reduce energy losses during power conversion.
Power Factor (PF) > 0.95: Meets the power factor requirements of a wide range of lighting applications.
Flicker-Free Dimming Performance: Provides comfortable brightness adjustment. Actual performance depends on the driver model, dimmer, and load configuration.
Multiple Protection Functions: Built-in protection mechanisms help ensure reliable driver operation.
Multiple Dimming Options
Even if a dimmable LED driver meets a project's size and power requirements, it may not deliver the expected performance if its dimming method is incompatible with the lighting control system. Therefore, when selecting an LED dimmable driver, it is important to consider not only its physical dimensions and output specifications but also its dimming compatibility.
The Suretron Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Dimmable LED Driver Series offers the following dimming options:
TRIAC & 0-10V 5-in-1: Provides a versatile dimming solution for projects using compatible dimming methods.
DALI-2 D4i: Suitable for projects adopting compatible DALI-2 D4i digital lighting control systems.
DMX512: Designed for lighting applications using DMX512 control systems.
With multiple dimming options available, the series provides suitable driver choices for different control systems, luminaire designs, and project requirements. During product selection, it is recommended to verify the specifications of the specific model, dimming protocol, and compatibility with the control equipment.
Multiple Housing Designs for Different Installation Requirements
In practical applications, different projects have different requirements for dimmable LED driver housings. Linear luminaires may prioritize driver thickness and length, while projects using junction boxes need to consider whether the housing design matches the installation position and available space. Since luminaire structures vary, a single housing design may not be suitable for every installation environment.
To accommodate different spatial layouts and installation requirements, the Suretron Ultra-Mini Ultra-Slim Dimmable LED Driver Series offers four housing designs:
Ultra-Mini Aluminum Housing: Suitable for installations requiring a compact aluminum housing.
Ultra-Slim Linear Housing: Designed for linear luminaires with limited installation height and space.
Junction Box Housing: Suitable for installations requiring a junction box-style housing.
Linear Junction Box Housing: Provides an alternative structural design for installations with different spatial layouts.
These housing options allow luminaire manufacturers to consider the internal space, installation method, and driver power requirements when selecting a suitable model, helping achieve better integration between the LED driver and luminaire structure during the product design stage.
