I wonder if anyone has encountered the situation where "the dimming power supply you bought does not dim", the lights are either fully on or fully off, and the cost of transformation is seriously overspent! Don't worry if you encounter this embarrassing situation, let Suretron, which exports to more than 100 countries around the world, give you some advice. As a professional manufacturer of intelligent dimming power supplies, we have summarized five major solutions to help you quickly troubleshoot power failures!

You may have purchased a non-dimming driver power supply

We must first clarify a concept. Not all driver power supplies have dimming functions. The dimming driver power supply is equipped with a dimming protocol module, which can dynamically adjust the output voltage or output current according to external signals to achieve brightness or color temperature and color adjustment. However, the circuit design of the non-dimming driver power supply is simple, and it only pursues stable output. The lights are either fully on or fully off. Therefore, if you encounter a non-dimming driver power supply, it is likely that you have bought the wrong product.

It may be that the dimming protocol does not match

If you purchase a dimmable driver power supply, but the dimming protocol does not match, it is still not dimming. For example, thyristor dimmer + 0-10V dimming power supply = cannot dim, because the signal types of the two protocols are different, thyristor dimmer is phase cutting, 0-10V dimming power supply is analog voltage, just like two people communicating in different languages, they can't reach a consensus at all.

It may be that the lamp itself does not support dimming

If the lamp used by the customer does not support dimming, then even if the dimming power supply is replaced, the dimming effect will not be very good, or even cannot be dimmed.

It may be that the type of dimming power supply is not selected correctly

First understand whether the LED lamp belongs to constant voltage lamp or constant current lamp. Constant voltage LED lamps (common 12V, 24V output) need to match constant voltage dimming power supply, constant current LED lamps (common 350mA-2000mA) use constant current dimming power supply. If the type of dimming power supply is not selected correctly, normal dimming operation cannot be performed.

It may be that the power of the dimming power supply does not match the power of the light source

If the power of the dimming power supply and the light source does not match, the dimming power supply will go out of work, and there will be problems such as dimming flickering and the lowest brightness cannot be dimmed. Therefore, before purchasing the dimming power supply, we must calculate the actual power of the lamp and then choose the rated power of the power supply: dimming power supply rated power = total power of the lamp x1.2

In order to extend the service life of the dimming power supply, it is usually recommended that lamp manufacturers run the dimming power supply at 80% of the rated load, which can improve the stability of the power supply.

If the above problems are confirmed, and your lamp still cannot achieve the dimming function, you can consider whether there is a problem with the wiring steps? Because if the dimming line is not connected correctly or the dimming signal is interfered with, the dimming function will fail, and the random wiring will also cause safety problems, so the dimming power supply wiring must strictly follow the product manual.

In order to achieve a smooth dimming effect, when purchasing a power supply, we must first clarify our own needs, choose a dimming power supply that matches the lamp, and remember to install and use it strictly according to the manual, so that the dimming function of the lamp can be used normally.

That’s all for today’s sharing. Next time you encounter the problem of "power supply cannot dim", remember to follow the above steps to troubleshoot. I hope everyone can choose the most matching dimming power supply for their lamps!
